Zarathustra Party

Our analysis of the Abalos text began with the juxtaposition of two distinct chapters of Mies’ Zarathustra house and Warhol’s Factory. In both we saw an opportunity to explore the notion of the subject, and the relationship of the subject to the production and making of his own character, whether it is through the self actualization of the Superman seen in Mies’s courtyards, or the expression of artistic liberties found in Warhol’s Loft. In combining these two ideals, the subject, as we have defined for ourselves, would be one that embraces the communal aspect of production as the parties of Warhol have exhibited, while also internalizing the solitary nature of the self-actualized Zarathustra as depicted by Mies. Our speculation of the house of the future is not only dominated by the advancement of technology, but the notion that technology would enhance the individual through the simplification of everyday needs. In other words, technological advancements can eliminate domestic chores such as cleaning or cooking, giving each individual more time to focus on psychological needs and self fulfillment
